Farther Privacy Policy

Effective Date: June 06, 2026

Farther is developed and operated by Chetan Dhowlaghar. This Privacy Policy describes what information the Farther iPhone application collects, how that information is used and stored, what choices are available to users, and the circumstances under which information may be shared.

By downloading or using Farther, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with any part of it, please discontinue use of the application.

1. What Farther Does

Farther is a walking analytics application for iPhone. It reads step count data from Apple Health and uses that data to calculate a Walking Baseline, which is an exponentially weighted moving average of daily step activity over a certain period of time.

This score is visualized through a Band Graph. The application is designed to give users a long-term, stable picture of how they move through life, without the anxiety of daily targets or streaks.

Farther is a personal wellness tool. It is not a medical device, a clinical application, or a substitute for professional medical advice. Nothing the application displays should be interpreted as a diagnosis, a treatment recommendation, or a medical opinion of any kind.

2. Information We Collect

Step Count Data from Apple Health

When you grant permission, Farther reads your historical and daily step count data from Apple Health. This is the only category of health data the application accesses.

Farther does not read heart rate, sleep, location, weight, nutrition, or any other HealthKit data type. Raw step data is processed on your device and is not uploaded to Farther's servers.

Account Information

Farther supports two sign-in modes.

Anonymous users receive a randomly generated identifier that contains no personal information. Users who choose Sign in with Apple may share their name and email address according to Apple's sign-in flow.

Application Preferences

Your preferred week start day and chosen color scheme are stored in Firestore and linked to your user identifier so that settings can be restored across installations and devices.

Baseline History

Your daily Walking Baseline is stored in Firestore as a dated record containing the computed value for that day. This allows Farther to display historical trends and preserve continuity across devices and reinstalls.

Analytics Information

Firebase Analytics collects anonymous and aggregated information about how the application is used, including screen visits, feature usage, and app launches.

This information is not linked to your name or email address and is used solely to improve the application.

Crash and Diagnostic Information

Firebase Crashlytics automatically collects technical information when the application crashes or encounters an error. This may include device model, iOS version, app version, and technical stack traces.

Crash reports do not contain your name, email address, step data, or Walking Baseline history.

Advertising Information

Free users may see advertisements served through Google AdMob.

AdMob and its partners may collect advertising identifiers, device information, approximate location derived from IP address, and usage information for advertising, fraud prevention, measurement, and service improvement.

If you grant permission through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt, advertisements may be personalized. If permission is denied, advertisements may still be shown but may be less relevant.

Farther does not share your step history, Walking Baseline, or application-generated insights with advertisers.

3. What We Do Not Collect

4. Apple HealthKit

Farther's use of Apple HealthKit is governed by Apple's developer requirements.

Step data sourced from HealthKit is used only to power the application's core functionality. It is not sold, shared with advertisers, or used for marketing purposes.

Farther currently reads step count data from Apple Health and does not write any information back to Apple Health.

You may revoke Farther's access to Apple Health at any time through the Health settings on your iPhone.

5. How We Use Your Information

Farther does not use your information to train machine learning models.

6. Third-Party Services

These services operate under their own privacy policies and terms.

7. Data Retention

Signed-In Accounts

Account information, preferences, and baseline history are retained until the account is deleted.

When an account is deleted, associated records are permanently removed from our systems.

Anonymous Sessions

Anonymous sessions are represented by randomly generated identifiers that contain no personal information.

If the application is removed, anonymous data may remain stored in an unattributable form and cannot be linked back to a specific individual.

Analytics and Crash Reports

Analytics data is retained according to configured Firebase retention settings.

Crash reports are retained by Firebase Crashlytics for up to 90 days.

8. Account Deletion

Users with a Sign in with Apple account may delete their account and associated data directly through the application at any time.

Account deletion removes the Firebase Authentication record, user profile, preferences, and baseline history associated with the account.

Anonymous analytics and crash reports are not affected because they cannot be linked to an individual account.

9. Advertising and Future Monetisation

The current version of Farther is free and supported by advertising revenue through Google AdMob.

Future versions may introduce premium subscriptions or one-time purchases that remove advertising and unlock additional features.

10. Children's Privacy

Farther is intended for users aged 13 and older.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

11. Your Rights

12. Governing Law

This Privacy Policy is governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India.

Any dispute arising from this Privacy Policy shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Hyderabad, Telangana, India.

13. Changes to This Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time to reflect changes in the application, services, or applicable law.

When material changes occur, notice will be provided through the application and the Effective Date will be updated.
